FAQ.

Answers to the most common questions about measuring, managing, and reducing the carbon footprint in Latin America.

It is the quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by your company’s operations and, if applicable, its value chain. It is also known as a GHG emissions inventory and serves as the foundation for any climate strategy.

According to the GHG Protocol methodology, Scope 1 refers to direct emissions from your operations (e.g., fuel use). Scope 2 refers to emissions associated with the electricity you purchase. Scope 3 refers to indirect emissions from your value chain, such as those from suppliers, transportation, and the use of your products. We offer Essential Footprint (Scopes 1 and 2) or Complete Footprint (Scopes 1, 2, and 3), depending on your company’s needs.

These are the three stages of the journey toward decarbonization. Calculation measures your carbon footprint. Reduction evaluates the most cost-effective mitigation measures and sets goals. Offsetting uses verified carbon credits to offset the remaining emissions that you cannot yet eliminate through direct reduction. You can purchase each service separately, depending on the stage your company is in.

We work primarily with companies in Latin America and the United States, in sectors such as mining, food, packaging, construction, transportation, telecommunications, and technology services, among others.

You’ll receive a technical report ready for third-party audit or verification processes. From there, you can move toward Reduction (a roadmap and decarbonization goals) and, if applicable, the Neutralization of your remaining emissions. Additionally, by renewing your calculation annually, you can demonstrate your company’s actual progress over time.

It depends on the country, sector, and size of your company. In Latin America, some programs are voluntary (such as HuellaChile), while others are mandatory for certain sectors or for participating in public tenders. Furthermore, an increasing number of large companies are requiring their suppliers to measure and report their carbon footprint. International frameworks such as CSRD (Europe) and ISSB are expanding these requirements.

Each project is quoted individually, with the scope of work (SoW) determined to estimate the required number of man-hours. The scope of work depends on the size of your company, the activities included, and any additional services you may need. Schedule a free consultation, and we’ll send you a customized proposal.

Once your carbon footprint has been quantified, we work with your company to set short- and long-term goals for reducing your carbon emissions and to establish a roadmap toward Net Zero. This roadmap may involve implementing energy efficiency measures, transitioning to renewable energy, optimizing production processes, improving logistics and transportation, adopting a circular economy approach, or making changes to the supply chain, among other strategies. We prioritize actions based on their reduction potential, technical feasibility, and return on investment. Our goal is to help you chart a clear path toward Net Zero aligned with climate science (SBTi).

Yes. While we work with several international and large-scale companies, we specialize in small and medium-sized businesses, especially those without an in-house sustainability team or with overstretched teams, for whom hiring a full-time analyst is not yet justified.

No. We calculate your carbon footprint using our own Excel-based tools, applying the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1 methods. This allows us to adapt to the reality and size of each company, without relying on costly and inflexible platforms or external licenses that must be renewed periodically.
